Red Bull submits formal appeal on Ricciardo DQ

Red Bull planned to appeal the disqualification of Daniel Ricciardo at the Australian Grand Prix over “exceeding consistently” the new fuel flow regulations, and on Thursday, made its intentions reality.

Formal paperwork has been submitted within the four-day window with which to do so, per Autosport and other media reports. A decision could take a couple weeks or more, following a hearing.

As for the reasoning, Red Bull viewed Ricciardo as under the 100 kg/h limit via its own sensor, rather than above the one enforced by the FIA.

The full FIA reasoning is linked here. And this means that the story will go on to the Malaysian and Bahrain Grands Prix in the background of the on-track activity.

Both Red Bull and Ferrari have gone for a more balanced portion of supersoft and ultrasoft tires, with Red Bull only selecting six sets of ultrasoft tires.

Meanwhile all other teams have gone between eight to 10 sets of ultrasoft tires.
