Australian race fan gives ‘motormouth’ a new meaning with uncanny must-see videos

Remember the old series of Police Academy movies, where one of the cops had a mouth from which spewed out a countless number of sounds and sound effects?

(For the record, that’s comedian Michael Winslow, nicknamed “The Man of 10,000 Noises.”)

Winslow may have met his match, however, when it comes to mimicking the sound of racing cars.

Australian Daniel Jovanov, otherwise known as “The Human Soundmachine,” does a spot-on job in a blind sound test of four high-performance rides recently at the Rally Australia racing facility.

Using a trio of Volkswagen rally car drivers as judges, Jovanov’s mouth and voice perform an incredible replication of a Red Bull F1 car (the turbo V-6 version), a Lamborghini Gallardo, a Volkswagen Polo WRC car, and a Subaru WRX Group N rally car.

Give credit where it’s due, though: the judges know their cars – and sounds – by accurately picking the cars Jovanov was replicating. By the way, Jovanov is just 21 and was a finalist on Australia’s Got Talent in 2012.

Check out the first video below for an aural concert of sorts like you’ve never heard before, followed by Jovanov’s first appearance on Australia’s Got Talent:

Social roundup: Racing world largely outraged by Verstappen penalty

The discussion over Max Verstappen’s post-race five-second time penalty assessed in Sunday’s United States Grand Prix, issued when he tried to the inside of Kimi Raikkonen at the Turns 16, 17 and 18 carousel complex at Circuit of The Americas, will roll on far beyond today.

The debate today largely centered over consistency in adjudication and application of the rules, track limits themselves (always a sore subject at COTA given its wide runoff areas) or whether there should be permanent stewards.

In the immediate aftermath, though, Twitter lit up with outrage over Verstappen being assessed a five-second post-race time penalty.

Here’s a mere sampling of the reaction, below.
