Rosberg disappointed with fourth place behind Hamilton (VIDEO)

Nico Rosberg has been left frustrated in Hungary today after he failed to convert pole position into a race win, eventually bringing his Mercedes home in fourth place behind teammate Lewis Hamilton.

The German driver did lead the early stages of the race before the first safety car period, when Mercedes’ decision to pit him one lap later than the opposition dropped him down the order. The team then chose to run two option tire stints as opposed to one prime stint for Hamilton, and despite calling for the Briton to let Rosberg through, the championship leader was not given the position.

Rosberg managed to catch Hamilton in the final laps of the race despite pitting an extra time, but could not quite overtake his title rival, falling half a second short at the flag.

Speaking to NBCSN’s Will Buxton after the race today, Rosberg made no secret of his disappointment, but is happy to still hold an eleven point lead heading into F1’s summer break.

The Verizon IndyCar Series took to Barber Motorsports Park on Tuesday for an open test, with 24 entries tackling the 2.38-mile road course.

Weather intervened in the afternoon, preventing nearly the entire field from going out, but the weather held off during the morning enough for one session to be run in its entirety.

Team Penske’s Josef Newgarden led the way, with a quick lap of 1:07.979, ahead of Team Penske teammates Will Power and Helio Castroneves. For Castroneves, this marked his first IndyCar outing of 2018.

Sporting the Pennzoil “yellow submarine” paint scheme, Castroneves turned 41 laps around Barber in the morning session, with a quick lap of 1:08.315. He was also the only driver to venture out on track in the afternoon, completing eight laps.

The Dale Coyne Racing duo of Sebastien Bourdais and Zachary Claman De Melo completed the top five.
