“Chris Owens”

Arguably Canada’s best open-wheel prospect - 2013 Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship Powered by Mazda champion Scott Hargrove - will begin his 2016 Indy Lights Presented by Cooper Tires campaign in nearly identical fashion to how he did in 2015.

He’s got a one-off at St. Petersburg with a team featuring Gary Neal as team manager.

Difference is, what was 8Star Motorsports, owned by Enzo Potolicchio is now Team Pelfrey, and owned by Dale Pelfrey.

“I’m ecstatic about joining the new Team Pelfrey Indy Lights program,” Hargrove said. “It’s clear that this is a team that knows how to win, and I’m very confident we’ll be competitive right out of the gate. After nearly a year out of the Indy Lights car, St. Pete will be a great reintroduction as it is one of my favorite tracks on the schedule and I’ve had success there in the past.”

It will present the young Canadian his second weekend in Indy Lights, and see him added to the field along with Juan Piedrahita in what will now be a two-car team.

Hargrove finished fourth and sixth in the two St. Petersburg races last year, and will look to end better this go-around.
