Bourdais’ win at Rolex 24 leads way for IndyCar drivers

Bourdais win for @FordPerformance leads @IndyCar results at Rolex 24 wp.me/p36IVn-2KcnThe Verizon IndyCar Series was well-represented in the 55th Rolex 24 Hours At Daytona this weekend.

The highest-finishing IndyCar driver was Sebastien Bourdais, who was a member of the GTLM class-winning No. 66 Ford Chip Ganassi Racing Ford GT team.

There were 12 drivers who competed in IndyCar in 2016, and an additional 14 more with past IndyCar experience prior to that. Eight of those 12 are confirmed for 2017 full seasons.

Of those 12 IndyCar drivers, six finished in the top-10 in their respective classes.

Here’s a breakdown of the 2016 and 2017 IndyCar drivers entered, the team (and car) they drove for and their team’s class and overall finishing position:

RC Enerson, No. 52 PR1/Mathiasen Motorsports Ligier LMP2 – ninth in class, 35th overall
Spencer Pigot, No. 55 Mazda Motorsports Mazda DPI – 11th in class, 40th overall
James Hinchcliffe, No. 70 Mazda Motorsports Mazda DPI – 12th in class, 46th overall

GTLM

Sebastien Bourdais, No. 66 Ford Chip Ganassi Racing Ford GT – 1st in class, fifth overall
Tony Kanaan, No. 69 Ford Chip Ganassi Racing Team UK – fifth in class, ninth overall
Scott Dixon, No. 67 Ford Chip Ganassi Racing Ford – 10th in class, 27th overall

GTD

Ryan Hunter-Reay, No. 86 Michael Shank Racing with Curb-Agajanian Acura NSX GT3 – fifth in class, 22nd overall
Townsend Bell, No. 23 Alex Job Racing Audi R8 LMS GT3 – sixth in class, 23rd overall
Graham Rahal, No. 93 Michael Shank Racing with Curb-Agajanian Acura NSX GT3 – 11th in class, 29th overall
Jack Hawksworth, No. 15 3GT Racing Lexus RCF GTS – 14th in class, 36th overall
Sage Karam, No. 14 3GT Racing Lexus RC F GT3 – 27th in class, 54th overall (to be fair, Karam never got a chance behind the wheel, as Scott Pruett crashed early in the race)
