Rising American talent Logan Sargeant has confirmed he will spend 2017 in British Formula 4 after joining Carlin’s program.
Sargeant, 16, has raced in karts since the age of eight and won numerous titles, the biggest being the KFJ World Title in 2015. Sargeant was the first American to win the championship since Lake Speed in 1978.
Sargeant has enjoyed his first taste of single-seaters over the winter in the new UAE F4 series, where he sits second in the standings with eight races remaining.
On Thursday, Carlin confirmed that Sargeant would be joining its British F4 squad for 2017, partnering dressage rider-turned-racer Lucas Alecco Roy.
“I am really looking forward to this coming season with Carlin. They have won the championship two years in a row so they are the obvious team to compete with in the British Formula 4 championship,” Sargeant said.
“It’s going to be a very exciting year, and we are all going to be pushing to make it three titles in a row; I will do everything possible behind the wheel to make that happen.
“Carlin have shown their dominance in the testing that I have done with them, and have been a very professional team to work with.
“We have a great environment around us with great people, now we just need to apply those things on the track and win another championship!”
Carlin has a number of racing programs beyond its British F4 commitments, stretching all the way up to Indy Lights and with plans for a move up to IndyCar in the future.
