One of NASCAR’s most popular drivers, Dale Earnhardt Jr., chimed in when asked about the National Rifle Association sponsoring a Sprint Cup Series race. During an appearance on “The Crossover” (weekdays at 6 p.m. ET on NBC Sports Network), Earnhardt called the timing “strange,” but was not going to tell Texas Motor Speedway how to run its business operations.
The NRA will sponsor Texas’ Sprint Cup Series race in April. Earnhardt won his first NASCAR Sprint Cup (then called Winston Cup, in 2000) and Nationwide (the former Busch Grand National) Series races at the track.
