Coyne ride-share planned for second car?

Dale Coyne Racing is projected to have two drivers share its second car for the 2013 IZOD IndyCar Series season, as Stefan Wilson and Ana Beatriz would make up the numbers for the veteran team owner. Wilson will test for DCR this Wednesday at IndyCar’s official preseason test at Barber Motorsports Park.

Coyne went with a ride-share in 2011, with Alex Lloyd (ovals) and Sebastien Bourdais (road/street courses) sharing the No. 19 Boy Scouts of America Dallara-Honda.

Exact races have not been confirmed, but Indianapolis Star reporter Curt Cavin said Wilson, the 23-year-old younger brother of Justin, will run all road and street courses except Brazil.  Beatriz will race in her home country, and is expected to run the oval rounds of the schedule.

No determination has been made to potentially running a third car to accommodate all drivers, if all three are confirmed, for the Indianapolis 500.

Stefan Wilson, then, would join brother Justin as teammates within Coyne Racing. The last pair of brothers to race against each other in IndyCar was Buddy and Jaques Lazier in 2007, at that year’s Indianapolis 500.

He won twice in the 2011 Firestone Indy Lights Series, and finished third in that year’s series standings behind champion Josef Newgarden and Esteban Guerrieri.
