Esteban Gutierrez and Mark Webber have both been given grid penalties for the Bahrain Grand Prix following accidents in today’s Chinese Grand Prix.
Sauber driver Gutierrez crashed into the back of Force India’s Adrian Sutil early on in the Chinese GP, ending both of their races and bringing out the yellow flags at the hairpin. The stewards swiftly confirmed that they would be investigating the incident after the race, and Gutierrez has been given a five place grid penalty for the race in Bahrain next week.
For Webber, the incident with Jean-Eric Vergne capped off a disastrous weekend. Having been excluded from qualifying and starting from the pit lane, Webber actually led his teammate Sebastian Vettel. However, when trying to pass the Toro Rosso, Webber made contact, spinning Vergne and breaking his own front wing.
Therefore, Webber has been given a three place grid penalty for Bahrain. This video is no longer available. Click here to watch more NBC Sports videos!
