Button not expecting much from Bahrain GP

Jenson Button has conceded that he is not expecting much from tomorrow’s Bahrain Grand Prix, and he will be happy to score some points.

The British driver qualified 10th for McLaren, and he only just made it into the final qualifying session in Sakhir today.

“I don’t want people to expect too much out of us. It’s going to be a tough day tomorrow,” Button explained.

“We’re always going to be positive and every time I jump in the car I try to go as quick as I can.”

Upon hearing that he had made it into Q3, Button cheered sarcastically over the radio. McLaren has struggled so far this season, and the 2009 world champion believes that an alternative strategy will be required if they are to score in Bahrain.

“Most of the time we are doing something different to other people because we have to. We’ll see what we can do. Maybe a two-stop strategy is on the cards.

“We’re definitely on for points and it would be good to come away with both cars in the points.”

With Sergio Perez qualifying 12th, McLaren will be looking to utilize their strategy in order to secure some points in Bahrain. With Button free to choose which tire he starts on, he could repeat his performance in China where he finished a strong 5th.
