Denny Hamlin’s latest scan has been done, and he awaits word of whether he’ll be able to race at Richmond International Raceway next month.
“A doctor has seen a scan yesterday, but, obviously, there’s a large team of doctors who have to have a consensus,” Hamlin told NASCAR.com. “Until all of them get the images, we’re still waiting on that. They should have them this morning.
“Hopefully, by the end of the day, everyone will have consensus and have time to review what’s the safe thing to do.”
Hamlin reflected that time outside the cockpit has been beneficial for him. He said if he can’t start at Richmond, he will start at Talladega for sure, then be replaced by a relief driver.
Hamlin visited Washington on Wednesday.
