Panther Racing confirmed Oriol Servia for the Texas and Iowa races of the 2013 IZOD IndyCar Series season on Wednesday.

Servia, Detroit Panther driver Ryan Briscoe and several others are expected to share the No. 4 National Guard Chevrolet for the balance of the season, per Panther managing partner John Barnes.

As for Servia, it’s a natural fit given the Panther and Dreyer & Reinbold Racing technical partnership that was in play from the 2012 to 2013 Indianapolis 500s.

“I couldn’t be more excited about this opportunity,” Servia said. “Firstly, it’s a job, but it’s with a team that I’ve been working with very closely with for the last year. Not only do I know everybody that works there, but I know the potential for the National Guard car and the performance we’ve had will give us a chance to win. But I’m especially honored because representing the National Guard is so much more special than any other sponsor, and I’m excited to be a part of everything that partnership involves with the team.”
