Monaco Grand Prix winner Nico Rosberg of Mercedes was among the six drivers invited to the Thursday FIA Press Conference in Montreal. Others included Felipe Massa (Ferrari), Pastor Maldonado (Williams), Jean-Eric Vergne (Toro Rosso) and the Caterham teammates of Charles Pic and Giedo van der Garde.
Rosberg admitted the euphoria of Monaco is already a distant memory, with the focus now shifting to how Mercedes can dial in its tires at Montreal.
“Unfortunately yes! It goes quite quick in this sport,” said Rosberg. “Already a couple of days afterwards, the focus went completely to Montreal. I mean, first of all understanding what we did right and wrong in Monaco and then preparing for Montreal and trying to get the most out of this weekend.”
Vergne scored his fourth eighth place finish in his F1 career at Monaco and said he was continuing to improve race-by-race. Van der Garde starred in qualifying at Monaco, making it into Q2 in 15th in the mixed wet-dry session. However for him, this is his first trip to Montreal.
“We did some practice on the simulator and I like more or less always a street circuit, so let’s see how it goes,” said the Dutchman.
Massa and Maldonado had accidents from Monaco to shake off; Pic, more or less, said Caterham is happy with its evolution thus far this year.
