Ross Brawn has accepted responsibility for Mercedes’ tire test at the Circuit de Catalunya in May, although he is still confident that the team can prove its innocence at the FIA tribunal in the next few weeks.
Brawn was asked in a press conference whether he felt that his position was under threat over the affair, but he showed little concern about such rumors.
“I think there’s been some rumors before and nothing’s happened. I think we should say let’s wait and see what the tribunal find and then we can go from there.”
These rumors have suggested that Paddy Lowe’s arrival at Mercedes will put Brawn under more pressure, yet he was happy to take responsibility for the test and welcomed the tribunal.
“It was my decision to do the test so that’s a fact and let’s see what occurs at tribunal and we go from there.
“I’m confident that once we get to the tribunal the facts will become apparent, and you’ll be able to make a better judgement.”
The tribunal is reportedly scheduled to take place in the break between the Canadian and British Grands Prix.
