Raikkonen and Ricciardo handed two-place grid penalties

Kimi Raikkonen and Daniel Ricciardo have both been handed a two-place grid penalty after failing to start from the fast lane in qualifying for the Canadian Grand Prix on Saturday.

After the red flag was brought out in Q2 following Felipe Massa’s crash at turn three, the drivers were required to return to the pit lane until the wreckage was cleared. With just two minutes left in the session, there was a scramble to be at the front of the pit lane, with the cars lining up as many as three abreast across the pit lane.

However, Raikkonen and Ricciardo’s starting positions have been adjudged as being in breach of the regulations, reasoning their penalty. The drivers had qualified 9th and 10th respectively, with the penalties dropping them behind Nico Hulkenberg on the grid for tomorrow’s race.
