Sebastian Vettel may have stormed to pole position in qualifying yesterday, but the Canadian Grand Prix has a habit of not making the race a foregone conclusion. In fact, this is Vettel’s third pole in a row at the Circuit Gilles Villenueve, yet he has failed to win the race – a rather large omission from his near-perfect hit list. To win in Canada takes a great level of tire management, confidence under braking and, as with everything, luck.
One man who did benefit from the wet conditions in qualifying was Valtteri Bottas, who will start an excellent 3rd for Williams and the team will be hopeful of scoring its first points in 2013. The Mercedes duo of Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg will start 2nd and 4th as they look to make it two wins in a row for Mercedes, whilst Mark Webber (5th) and Fernando Alonso (6th) are also set to join the shake-up.
The pre-race show begins at 1:30pm ET on NBCSN, with the race starting at 2pm on NBC.
