Jimmie Johnson’s restarts in Pocono cemented his dominant NASCAR day

“That was the best car I’ve had in a long, long, long time,” Jimmie Johnson told the TNT race coverage from victory lane at Pocono Raceway on Sunday.

The last 30 laps of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race were peppered with restarts and in every single instance, Johnson got the jump (not in an illegal sense, like at Dover) and ran off and hid from the rest of the field.

If the IndyCar race at Texas was a case of formula slightly overdone, and Formula One not impacted by usual spicing-up factors such as rain or safety cars, NASCAR was just a case of one car being vastly superior to the rest.

Sometimes, that just happens – and Jimmie Johnson happened to the rest of the field on Sunday at Pocono.
