As one of stock car racing’s most historic venues, the quarter-mile Bowman-Gray Stadium in Winston-Salem, North Carolina has surely seen its fair share of angry drivers. But what happened there this past Saturday night may stand out.
According to the Winston-Salem Journal, Derek Stoltz bumped Mike Robertson on the final lap of a Sportsman division race. When Stoltz came back around, Robertson was waiting and, in an apparent attempt to go after Stoltz, proceeded to grab onto his car. Stoltz would then drag Robertson along for 30 yards before the latter was sent tumbling onto the surface near the wall.
Robertson quickly got up and attempted to chase down Stoltz but was stopped by track security.
Per the Journal, Stoltz also knocked Mike’s older brother, Bryant, out of the lead on that last lap and was eventually declared the winner after rain began to fall.
