It’s a big weekend for the two combining sports car championships in North America. The GRAND-AM Rolex Series and American Le Mans Series will come together as the United SportsCar Racing series in 2014; the tease on social media since the announcement last Labor Day weekend has been calling it “#TheFuture.”
With this weekend at Road America the first and only time GRAND-AM and ALMS will run on the same weekend at the same facility, a group shot was organized on the front straight of all cars at the historic 4.048-mile circuit in Elkhart Lake, Wis. (Photo by Brian Cleary/GRAND-AM).
A quick time lapse video of how the cars were assembled, as produced by GRAND-AM, is below.
The additional bit of news the USCR had announced was its TV and multimedia package, a five-year deal with the FOX Sports Group. Further information regarding that is available here, via the GRAND-AM website.
NASCAR’s multimedia deal from 2015 is split between FOX Sports and NBC Sports, and the USCR contract was likely to fall to one of those two. GRAND-AM currently airs on the SPEED Channel and ALMS on the ESPN family of networks.
