VIDEO: Singapore Sling chicane removed

A minor change has been made to the layout for this year’s Singapore Grand Prix with the removal of the ‘Singapore Sling’ chicane. The corner, formerly comprising of three changes in direction, was deemed to be unsuitable for F1 cars. In the video below, Will Buxton explains the changes that have been made to the corner for the race on Sunday.

The move has been welcomed by a number of drivers. Lewis Hamilton once called it “the worst corner in Formula One”, and he said on Thursday: “It can’t be any worse than it was.” Adrian Sutil also praised the new design, saying: “It’s a very good improvement, because the chicane before, I don’t think was Formula One spec. Everyone is much more happy.”
