With more than 234,000 fans, media and NASCAR officials already following him, it was likely only a matter of time before Dale Earnhardt Jr. finally joined the Twitter-sphere.

That’s what he did as an encore for winning Sunday’s Daytona 500.

During his post-race press conference, Earnhardt joked, “Pay attention here. I’ll be tweeting here in a minute. Gotta get my password.”

The 100-plus media members thought Earnhardt was joking, but about two hours later, sure enough, Junior was now officially a bonafide tweeter. His first official tweet is below.

First a win, then a tweet. What’s next, his first Sprint Cup championship?

UPDATE, 9:45 a.m. ET: Dale Jr. likes the tweeting thing so much he added two more for today, as he begins the Daytona 500 victory media tour.
