Red Bull has suffered yet another fuel sensor failure during practice for this weekend’s Bahrain Grand Prix, compounding the team’s problems that have blighted its progress so far this season.
In a new regulation introduced for the 2014 season, teams are restricted to a maximum fuel flow of 100kg/h, and Red Bull fell foul of this rule at the Australian Grand Prix which led to Daniel Ricciardo’s disqualification. The team stringently denied that it had broken this rule, and instead blamed the FIA sensors. As a result, an appeal hearing will be held in Paris on April 14th, but the team has since suffered from more problems.
As NBCSN’s Will Buxton explains in this video, the team has suffered from more bad luck this weekend, but these incidents are restricted to the Renault engines only. The team has met with the FIA and agreed on a contingency plan in the event of a sensor failure.
