After entering NASCAR’s top level as one of the most heralded rookies in recent memory, Kyle Larson has proven every bit as advertised.
But the talented freshman now faces his toughest challenge of the year.
Larson is down 24 points in the Chase standings with just one more race to go, and his only true way into the post-season is by winning Saturday night at Richmond International Raceway. He can still make the Chase on points alone, but he’ll need 16th-place Greg Biffle to suffer through an awful night.
But with the task pretty much spelled out, Larson can be as aggressive as possible. As we’ve seen time and again this year, Larson is not afraid to attack (especially when riding the high line, which has become something of a signature for him).
And Chase or no Chase, it appears we’re going to see plenty of exciting moments from Larson in the years ahead.
NASCAR AMERICA’s Leigh Diffey and Kyle Petty assessed Larson’s rookie year so far in today’s show. You can see what they think of him in the clip above.
