Takuma Sato will have a one-race reunion with some of his former colleagues from his stint with Super Aguri Formula One, as he’ll step into the Amlin Aguri spot for this weekend’s FIA Formula E opener in Beijing, China.
Sato will fill in for Antonio Felix da Costa, who is unavailable due to his DTM commitments this weekend.
The team confirmed the news late Wednesday night U.S. time, with Sato confirming it himself shortly thereafter.
Sato will join Katherine Legge as race drivers. Meanwhile 2013 GP2 champion Fabio Leimer has also been confirmed as the team’s reserve.
Sato comes off a successful end to his fifth Verizon IndyCar Series season, where he ended fourth and sixth in the last two races at Sonoma and Fontana, driving for A.J. Foyt Enterprises.
