Even with new crew, Kevin Harvick’s pit road problems continue

JOLIET, Ill. — Well, anyone know what Danica Patrick’s pit crew is doing next week?

Kevin Harvick made a celebrated trade of pit crews with Tony Stewart for Sunday’s MyAFibStory.com 400 due to numerous mistakes and errors committed by his pit crew during the first 26 races of the regular season.

The thinking was that Stewart’s pit crew is a veteran group and would be able to help Harvick get rid of his pit road jinx.

So what happened Sunday with his new crew?

The first pit stop on Lap 42 went smoothly, but such was not the case on the next stop on Lap 69 (due to a caution for debris on the racetrack).

Harvick came onto pit road, got service and went back on the racetrack — only to come back in on the next lap due to a loose wheel on the left side.

The team got things tight and snug the second time around, but the damage was done, as Harvick dropped more than a dozen spots, back to 21st position.
