As the second race in the Chase for the Sprint Cup’s Challenger Round comes up this weekend at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, those outside the Top 12 – Ryan Newman, A.J. Allmendinger, Greg Biffle, and Aric Almirola – will be feeling the pressure to perform well.
But two others that are inside the Top 12 and in position to advance to the Contender Round are also needing big results at the “Magic Mile.” Denny Hamlin and Kurt Busch are currently sixth and ninth on the Chase Grid, and both have won multiple times at New Hampshire in their Cup careers.
But as NASCAR AMERICA’s Frank Stoddard notes in the clip above, the final track in the Challenger Round – Dover International Speedway – has not been great for either of them.
And that makes Sunday’s Sylvania 300 at NHMS a critical event as they seek to boost their hopes of moving deeper into the Chase.
You can hear what Stoddard has to say in the clip above.
