Following a tense qualifying session for the Singapore Grand Prix on Saturday, the stage is set for a thrilling race under the lights at Marina Bay today.
Lewis Hamilton secured his sixth pole position of the season in qualifying by just 0.007 seconds, cruelly denying teammate and championship rival Nico Rosberg first place on the grid.
Rosberg was left frustrated with the result, shouting “dammit!” back to his engineer over the radio. However, there are no points for qualifying, and with both of our title protagonists boasting good records around this track, we should witness a great dogfight at the front of the field.

Although the Silver Arrows did lock out the front row once again, it wasn’t without some pressure from the chasing pack. Both Red Bull and Ferrari came within one-quarter of a second of pole position, and with Sebastian Vettel, Daniel Ricciardo and Fernando Alonso finishing positions third to fifth, they will not make Mercedes’ life easy at the front today.
Throw in the inevitability of a safety car period (we’re six for six in Singapore) and a possible rain shower, and you can see why this race has the makings of a classic.
