Niki Lauda has never been shy about sharing his opinion on all things motorsport.
When German magazine Auto Motor und Sport recently asked Lauda his thoughts about the new Formula E Series, Lauda typically didn’t hold back.
“For me it was the worst thing I have seen for a long time,” said the former Formula One world champion and current Mercedes executive.
“The cars look like toys, they creep around the track one after the other — for me, this is not motorsport,” said Lauda, whose comments were picked up by Autoweek.com.
The new all-electric car series, which is sanctioned by F1’s governing FIA and promoted by Alejandro Agag, recently began its first season with a race in Beijing, China. The cars are virtually silent, which takes some getting used to.
