Toro Rosso 2015 driver Max Verstappen will make his free practice one debut earlier than anticipated, with the confirmation he’ll be in Jean-Eric Vergne’s chassis for FP1 at Suzuka this weekend.
Verstappen was originally slated to drive several FP1 sessions later this year, which he still will.
“I am not going there to break any records, I just want to gain experience,” he said, via the official Formula One website. “I have actually been to Suzuka before, to take part in a go-kart race on the track that is located next to the main circuit’s back straight. My dad has raced at Suzuka many times and he told me it’s not an easy track to start on.”
For Vergne, it’s another bit of tough luck even though he’s coming off a career-best tying sixth place at Singapore two weeks ago.
