CONCORD, N.C. — Making just his second appearance of the season in a Nationwide Series car, Alex Bowman wasted little time in being the fastest in the final NNS practice session Thursday evening.
Bowman, who is racing full-time as a rookie in the Sprint Cup Series this season, topped the entire 44-driver NNS field with a speed of 181.245 mph (29.794 seconds).
Four of the top-five fastest were Sprint Cup full-timers.
Brad Keselowski was second-fastest at 180.650 mph, followed by NNS regular Dylan Kwasniewski (180.638), Matt Kenseth (180.210) and Kyle Busch (180.054).
Sixth through 10th fastest were NNS points leader Chase Elliott (179.904), Elliott Sadler (179.898), Trevor Bayne ((179.766), Sprint Cup rookie Kyle Larson (179.718) and Brian Scott (179.170).
Ryan Blaney was 11th-fastest (178.891), followed by Ryan Reed (178.832), Brendan Gaughan (178.802), Chad Boat (178.654), Ty Dillon (178.141), Chris Buescher (177.971), Corey LaJoie (177.936), Dakoda Armstrong (177.901), James Buescher (177.602) and Regan Smith (177.515).
