Denny Hamlin’s jackman out for season with injury, but has four-time champ as backup

One of the most pivotal members of Denny Hamlin’s pit crew will miss the remainder of the season after suffering an injury during this past Saturday’s Bank of America 500 at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

Jackman Nate Bolling suffered a torn right tricep during the third pit stop of the race and had to be replaced by back-up Kenneth Purcell.

But Hamlin isn’t worried about Purcell’s ability. After all, Purcell was the primary jackman on four of Jimmie Johnson’s six Sprint Cup championship winning teams.

Bolling underwent successful surgery on the torn tricep on Wednesday and is expected to make a full recovery and return for the 2015 season-opening Daytona 500, according to a media release from Joe Gibbs Racing.
