Cool news here from the world of sports car racing.

Magnus Racing, known equally for its occasionally outlandish and frequently hilarious press releases as much as its on-track prowess (hey, they’ve won Daytona, Sebring and Indianapolis in the last three years), won the inaugural Microsoft Visual Studio “Team to Win” Grand Prize, voted on over six days specifically by fans of the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship.

In honor of the award, team owner and co-driver John Potter will be donating $10,000 to a long-time associate of the team, the Children’s Tumor Foundation and their Racing4Research™ program.

CTF/R4R works to raise funding and awareness for Neurofibromatosis – known simply as NF – which is a common yet under-recognized genetic disorder that can cause tumors to grow on nerves throughout the body.

Magnus beat out other fan favorites such as Corvette Racing and Dempsey Racing, among others.

A full release from the team is here.
