‘The King’ looking for another palace: RPM needs new home

Wanted: Good home for legendary NASCAR Sprint Cup team.

Richard Petty Motorsports is hunting for a new location for its shop. The building that RPM currently uses — which the team leases — has been sold, a team spokesman told The Charlotte Observer.

Both RPM Cup teams are currently housed in a location just outside Concord (N.C.) Regional Airport. Prior to that, it was housed in Statesville, N.C. (the old location of Evernham Motorsports), and before that in Mooresville, N.C., a facility that formerly housed Robert Yates Racing.

And before that, the team had spent more than five decades headquartered in Randleman, N.C.

Team officials told the Observer that they’re looking at several prospective new homes. It’s uncertain how long RPM has before it must vacate its current location.
