By a mere three points, Jeff Gordon made the Eliminator Round of the Chase for the Sprint Cup.
But with the board wiped clean again following a Sunday of Survival at Talladega, the four-time Sprint Cup champion is looking forward to capturing a ninth career victory at Martinsville Speedway – a victory that would lock him in for the Championship Race in November at Homestead-Miami Speedway.
As Gordon explained to NBCSN’s Jason Weigandt during today’s Eliminator Round Media Day activities in Charlotte, the building blocks of his sustained success at Martinsville are the same ones that help a driver do well everywhere else.
“It’s a great team, a great car, and a track you’re comfortable and confident at,” he said. “Over the years, I’ve just been able to find a rhythm that works really well for me there.
“When you get into that rhythm at a place like Martinsville, it allows you to really get into the details of the set-up and give good information back to the team.”
