Lewis Hamilton to join TODAY Show on Wednesday

As part of NBC’s buildup to this weekend’s United States Grand Prix from Circuit of the Americas in Austin (Sunday, 2:30 p.m. ET, NBC and online via Live Extra), Mercedes AMG Petronas’ Lewis Hamilton will join The TODAY Show on Wednesday to preview the event.

Hamilton enters the weekend on an absolute tear, having won the last four Grands Prix to bring his season total to nine, while leading Mercedes teammate Nico Rosberg by 17 points (291-274).

He’s also got a sterling record in the U.S., with wins at both Indianapolis (2007) and Austin (2012); the only driver in the field to do so.

As we near the 103rd running of the Indianapolis 500, NBC Sports will be counting down some of the top moments in the race’s illustrious history, right up until May 26.

Today’s countdown features the top five heartbreaks, from J.R. Hildebrand crashing on the final turn in 2011 to hand the win to Dan Wheldon, to Robby Gordon running out of fuel in 1999 and leading to Kenny Brack’s victory.
