All but one of the six remaining organizations in this year’s Chase for the Sprint Cup – Hendrick Motorsports, Team Penske, Joe Gibbs Racing, Roush Fenway Racing, and Stewart-Haas Racing – are down in South Florida for a mid-week test session at the site of next month’s Championship Race, Homestead-Miami Speedway.
Among the drivers testing today is Dale Earnhardt Jr., fresh off his victory two days ago at Martinsville Speedway. Jeff Gordon’s camp is also in attendance as they work toward getting an advantage for the four-time Cup champ should he make the Championship.
Roush Fenway pilot Greg Biffle is also turning laps around the 1.5-mile South Florida oval today. His teammate, Carl Edwards, is RFR’s lone competitor in the Eliminator Round.
The Stewart-Haas team and their Chaser, Kevin Harvick, are busy at Homestead as well:
Testing is expected to continue at Homestead through tomorrow.
On the other side of the country, another NASCAR test is taking place as we speak. Trevor Bayne, Kyle Larson, Martin Truex Jr., and Brian Vickers are participating in a Goodyear 2015 tire test at Auto Club Speedway in California.
