The conclusion of Sunday’s Eliminator Round middle race at Texas Motor Speedway featured the intensity that NASCAR was surely hoping to get when they rolled out the new format for the Chase this past winter.
At the same time, the environment that has been created with this new Chase has also helped trigger two post-race fights in the last four races. While the passion within these post-season events is something to be appreciated, it’s probably not in NASCAR’s best interest to have such brawls repeat on a semi-regular basis.
So, altogether, is this the type of Chase that the sport, its drivers, and its fans really want? NASCAR AMERICA’s Kyle Petty and Jeff Burton discuss the subject in the clip above.
