Attorney for Kurt Busch: Domestic abuse allegations “a complete fabrication”

A short time after the Dover (Del.) Police Department announced that it was investigating an allegation of domestic abuse against NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver Kurt Busch, Busch’s attorney – who also recently represented Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson in his high-profile court case – has responded.

In a statement, attorney Rusty Hardin said that the Dover Police has been informed that Busch will “fully cooperate” with its investigation and that Busch “expects to be vindicated when the entire truth of the situation comes to light.”

Hardin went on to add: “This allegation is a complete fabrication by a woman who has refused to accept the end of a relationship and Mr. Busch vehemently denies her allegations in every respect. At this time, we intend to have no further comment in the media out of respect for the Dover Police Department’s desire to conduct a thorough investigation without a media circus. ”

Multiple reports from Phoenix say that neither Busch nor his Stewart-Haas Racing team would comment on the allegations following today’s first Sprint Cup practice session.

NASCAR has said that it is aware of the investigation, while the Armed Forces Foundation has immediately suspended its association with Busch.
