After closing out the first practice session in Brazil as the fastest driver, Nico Rosberg will be looking to double up in FP2 today at Interlagos as the drivers get a second chance to get to grips with the newly-resurfaced Autodromo Jose Carlos Pace.

The majority of the drivers had at least one off-track excursion during the first session on Friday, and this could yet continue as rain threatens to make conditions all the more testing during second practice.

Rosberg may have been the man to beat during FP1, but teammate and championship rival Lewis Hamilton was in very close company, finishing just two-tenths of a second shy of the German driver.

Hamilton moved into a 24-point lead at the top of the F1 drivers’ championship with victory at last weekend’s United States Grand Prix, and can tighten his grasp on the title with a sixth successive win in Brazil this weekend.

For the time being though, it is Rosberg who holds the advantage at Interlagos, and he will be keen on carrying this form into FP2 on Friday afternoon.
