NASCAR AMERICA: Watch LIVE at 5 pm ET — Gibbs and Stewart, Chase trash-talking, Growing up Petty

On Thursday’s edition of NASCAR America, which airs LIVE from 5 to 5:30 pm ET, Sunday’s Sprint Cup championship race takes center stage.

Rick Allen, Kyle Petty and Jeff Burton hold down the fort from our Charlotte studio as the countdown to Sunday’s Chase finale continues.

Among today’s show highlights:

  • Our Marty Snider was at Wednesday’s NASCAR Chase Media Day and talked to two of the owners that have championship hopes on the line this weekend: Joe Gibbs, Super Bowl winning former-NFL coach and owner of Joe Gibbs Racing, and Tony Stewart, three-time Sprint Cup champ and co-owner of Stewart-Haas Racing.
  • Also at Chase Media event, finalist Kevin Harvick tried to play head games with fellow finalist Joey Logano. We examine how much intimidation and outright trash may or may not play into events on the track and the ultimate outcome of the actual race.
  • Earlier this week,’s Joe Posnanski, wrote a great piece on the triumphs and tragedies of NASCAR’s king, Richard Petty. Our Kyle Petty, Richard’s son, was quoted heavily in the article and he chats about growing up in Petty household.
