The Dallas Cowboys may have escaped New York with a victory on Sunday Night Football, but not before Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. set Twitter ablaze with his falling, one-handed touchdown grab.

Almost immediately, the talented rookie’s amazing play spawned an avalanche of memes that had him catch everything from 50 Cent’s laughably bad first pitch at a Mets game to the infamous “Bartman ball” in the 2003 National League Championship Series. Even references to Space Jam and The Lion King were made.

And now, IndyCar has gotten into the act.

The following was tweeted earlier this morning by the Paddock Insider account and shows Beckham catching the crystal trophy that got away from Sebastien Bourdais following his podium finish in Race 1 of the 2013 Honda Indy Toronto doubleheader.

In real life, the trophy wound up shattering on the ground after a couple of bounces:

Still, the Beckham/Bourdais meme is a good one, and it also brings to mind another goodie from this past July involving U.S. national soccer team goalie Tim Howard saving the old scoring tower at Indianapolis Motor Speedway:

Twitter can be a bad thing, sometimes. In this case, though, it’s a very good thing.
