Two quick notes going into the 2015 Pro Mazda Championship Presented by Cooper Tires season have come down in the last couple days:
Announced Wednesday, French rookie Timothe Buret (pictured) is the third driver for Juncos Racing’s lineup, with Jose Gutierrez back for his second season and Will Owen moving up from USF2000.
The 19-year-old Buret spent 2014 in Europe, racing a diverse schedule that included the Caterham French Challenge, VdeV Formula Renault European Challenge, VdeV European CN Proto Challenge, and the French Historic Formula Ford cup.
He recorded seven victories and 12 podiums, and then made his North American debut with Juncos in the Chris Griffis Memorial Mazda Road to Indy test at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course in September.
“I have been preparing myself for two years now, with the objective to move into a high level single-seater championship in 2015,” Buret said in a release. “After a successful 2014 season in Europe, I now feel ready to go to the next level of my racing career to show my driving skills and ambition in the very competitive Pro Mazda Championship of the “Mazda Road to Indy” ladder.”
Besides the three Juncos drivers, two others have announced programs for 2015. Dalton Kellett will shift from Team Pelfrey to Andretti Autosport, and American Kyle Connery will have Hi-Tide Boat Lifts to partner with him at JDC Motorsports for a full season.
Connery is currently finishing his winter semester at Indian River State College, pursuing a Mechanical and Aeronautical engineering degree before focusing on an intense testing schedule starting in January. More here from the Pro Mazda website.
