NASCAR: Carl Edwards settling in with JGR in Charlotte tire test (PHOTOS)

Well, this is different.

After over a decade of driving the No. 99 Roush Fenway Racing Ford, Carl Edwards has officially made the switch to Joe Gibbs Racing and Toyota in advance of being JGR’s fourth full-time Sprint Cup driver in 2015.

Edwards, new crew chief Darian Grubb, and JGR’s new No. 19 team are taking part in a Goodyear test session at Charlotte Motor Speedway over the next couple of days.

Joining them at CMS are Dale Earnhardt Jr. (Hendrick Motorsports), Paul Menard (Richard Childress Racing), and Sam Hornish Jr. (Richard Petty Motorsports).

Back in August, Edwards announced that he would leave his longtime home at Roush Fenway to join Denny Hamlin, Matt Kenseth, and Kyle Busch at JGR.

Edwards’ No. 19 will have major support from telecommunications equipment company Arris as well as Stanley and DeWalt Tools. But for now, Edwards is testing in a simple black Toyota Camry at CMS.

JGR’s Twitter account has sent out the following photos as Edwards settles in with his new team…

Testing for today and tomorrow at CMS is expected to run through 5 p.m. ET.
