Canadian Scott Hargrove will test the new Indy Lights car for 8Star Motorsports on Wednesday at Palm Beach International Raceway.
The 19-year-old won the IMSA Porsche GT3 Canada title this year, and finished runner-up in his rookie season of Pro Mazda to Spencer Pigot.
Hargrove will be the first of several drivers seeking to fill one of 8Star’s two seats.
“To be one of the first drivers to test the new Indy Lights car is exciting and doing it with 8Star Motorsports is going to be a lot of fun,” Hargrove said in a release.
“The team has its roots in sportscar racing but a lot of its personnel are very experienced with open-wheelers, so it’s going to be fun to branch out and see what the team can do with the new Dallara IL-15. I’m really looking forward to 2015 and we’ll see where the test takes us.”
Meanwhile Sean Rayhall, the talented American prospect who won several races driving for 8Star’s PC program in the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship season this year, will not be at this test. He could still figure into the team’s future plans down the road.
Although the 8Star car rendering was in all orange, the Indy Lights test livery will be a mix of orange and gray. See photos from team principal Enzo Potolicchio below.
