Kyle Larson mourning death of grandmother, three months after grandfather passed away

One week after he and fiancée Katelyn Sweet welcomed their first child into the world – son Owen Miyata Larson – NASCAR Sprint Cup driver Kyle Larson is mourning the death of his grandmother.

Kyle announced on his Twitter feed that grandmother Patty Larson passed away on Dec. 30.

It’s been a rough stretch for Kyle. Three months ago on September 22, his grandfather Lary, and Patty’s husband, also passed away.

Lary and Patty were Kyle’s biggest supporters, following his racing exploits since he was a child. They were obviously very proud of their grandson and his success, including being named Sprint Cup Rookie of the Year in 2014 and Nationwide Series Rookie of the Year in 2013.

We extend our condolences to Kyle and his family.
