Veteran NASCAR team owner Felix Sabates was honored Saturday for his longtime support of the Allegro Foundation, according to a report in The Charlotte Observer.
Sabates, minority owner of Chip Ganassi Racing, was honored at the Allegro Foundation’s sixth annual Ambassador’s Ball at Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, N.C.
The Allegro Foundation does extensive work with children that suffer a number of medical or mental maladies such as intellectual and learning disabilities, Down syndrome, those that need to use wheelchairs or walkers, Spina bifida, cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy, visual and hearing impairments, those with cancer and also at-risk children.
All teaching and assistance is free for the children and their families.
The Ambassador’s Ball not only honored Sabates, who has worked with the Foundation for more than the past decade, but also was a fund-raiser to help the Foundation continue its works.
A special guest at the Ball was Monaco ambassador Maguy Maccario Doyle, Ambassador. There also were several representatives from the NASCAR community on hand, as well.
