Dale Earnhardt Jr. mourns loss of his best buddy, Killer

If you’re a dog lover, you probably can understand that NASCAR star Dale Earnhardt Jr. is feeling pretty low right now and sympathize with him.

Junior’s best buddy, his beloved 10-year-old boxer, Killer, passed away Sunday morning after a battle with cancer.

Killer was a familiar site on the NASCAR circuit, often accompanying Junior to races. From various reports, he was as friendly a pup as there is.

Junior announced his loss on Twitter:

“It’s with a heavy heart that I must share the sad news of our dog Killers passing from cancer. He was special.”

Killer, who was named after a Boxer that Junior’s late father, Dale Earnhardt Sr., used to own, would have turned 11 on May 5.

Earnhardt’s sister, Kelley, was among those also mourning Killer’s passing.

Danica Patrick also expressed her sympathies and condolences.
