Three days after its online launch, the McLaren-Honda MP4-30 will make its on-track debut Feb. 1 in the first F1 preseason test session at Jerez de la Frontera, Spain.
Inside the car will be the team’s newest addition.
Fernando Alonso, who returns to Woking this season after a five-year run with Ferrari, will be the first to put the MP4-30 through its pace.
McLaren confirms the two-time World Champion is slated to run Day 1 and 3 of the four-day Jerez session. As for the team’s other World Champ, 2009 king Jenson Button, he’ll take the controls during Days 2 and 4.
Alonso and Button have also tweeted their anticipation at getting the 2015 season started.
