IndyCar won’t replace Brazil race

Despite the possibility of finding a replacement race for the canceled Brasilia round, INDYCAR will not add a race on the March 8 weekend after all.

A statement out from INDYCAR on Monday reads:

INDYCAR has explored several possibilities in an attempt to find a replacement event following the cancellation of the March 8 race in Brasília. Due to the lack of time for suitable planning and the limited number of options, the series has concluded it is not feasible to organize a replacement race on that weekend. INDYCAR will determine other opportunities for its teams and drivers at that time following a review of the current testing schedule.

The Verizon IndyCar Series spring training is scheduled for March 16-17 at Barber Motorsports Park, which was expected to be the first official series test with new aero kits.

The Brasilia cancellation and potential of adding another test may push that aero kit premiere forward. INDYCAR is still yet to confirm a specific date of launch for the aero kits, which were homologated to series regulations last month.
