GP2: Rio Haryanto returns for fourth season with Campos

Indonesian racer Rio Haryanto will return for a fourth season in the GP2 Series in 2015, joining Campos Racing for the new campaign.

Haryanto made his debut back in 2012 with Marussia Carlin, and has since raced in 70 GP2 rounds with a best result of second at the 2013 Silverstone sprint race for Barwa Addax.

In 2014, he raced alongside American driver Alexander Rossi at Caterham Racing for much of the season, eventually finishing 15th in the championship before the team was sold and rebranded as Status Grand Prix.

The 22-year-old will now race for a fourth GP2 team in as many seasons by moving to Campos, where he will partner Arthur Pic for the 2015 season.

“I am very happy to be back in GP2 this year and looking forward to working together with Campos,” Haryanto said. “I feel that Campos Racing is a strong team and are very committed to success and Adrian [Campos] is a good motivator.”

Team owner Adrian Campos echoed Haryanto’s sentiments, saying: “I should like warmly to welcome Rio Haryanto to Campos Racing. I am very pleased as he is an experienced driver. We are going to give him our full support to deliver good results together.”

Campos becomes just the fourth team to confirm its complete line-up for the 2015 season, and the Spanish outfit will be hoping to better its seventh-place finish in the teams’ championship this time around.
